(February 15, 2008) - Unaccompanied
minors, children ages 5 to 14 traveling
without an adult 18 years of age or
older, will no longer be allowed to
connect from a Northwest Airlines or KLM
Royal Dutch Airlines flight to a
Continental Airlines (CO) or Delta Air
Lines (DL) flight. This change applies
to both domestic and international
travel.
Continental and Delta are joining
American Airlines (AA), US Airways (US),
and Hawaiian Airlines (HA) and will no
longer accept unaccompanied minors on
itineraries that include interline
connections.
For Continental, the new policy will
apply to tickets issued on/after
February 17, 2008. For Delta, the new
policy will apply to tickets issued
on/after March 1, 2008. Unaccompanied
minors with tickets issued prior to the
dates above will be allowed to travel as
scheduled, even if travel is scheduled
after February 17 or March 1.
Continental and Delta will also honor
any changes and allow for interline
itineraries for tickets issued prior to
February 17 or March 1, even if travel
is after February 17 or March 1.
Unaccompanied minors booked with
interline connections to any of the
airlines listed above will not be
boarded at their origination city.
Unaccompanied minors continue to be
prohibited from transatlantic and
transpacific flights that include
interline connections outside of the
U.S. to carriers that are not partners
with Northwest and KLM.
